Cancellation Policy

Thank you for choosing Chambers Tutoring. We will do everything we can to provide the best service possible for you and your child/children.

Part of this service is the assurance of lessons being completed regularly and to a high standard. Our tutors hold the responsibility to inform you if they will be unable to attend the session and we will ensure that all of our tutors are providing the service for which they have been hired. This guaranteed attendance works both ways, so we would like to issue the following statement regarding absences from tutoring sessions.

We understand that life can be very unpredictable. We sometimes simply don’t know what is around the corner and expecting the unexpected is easier said than done. That said, we would ask you to please inform you or your child/children’s tutor as soon as possible regarding any unforeseen circumstances. Any absence that is unexplained will be marked as such. Not showing up wastes the time of our tutors, and their time they have given up could be spent working with someone else instead.

  • After one unexpected absence, we will ask the tutor to contact you regarding this. There will be no charge for the lesson.
  • After the second unexplained absence, one of the company directors will contact you regarding this and remind you of the importance to communicate with your tutor if you know you will be unable to attend a lesson.
  • After the third unexplained absence, we will have no choice but to charge you the lesson’s fee and we will send another reminder that you must communicate with the tutor in advance so that they can use their time as effectively as possible. This will happen again for the fourth, fifth etc.

Your unexplained absences will clear every 3 months. We feel this is a fair time period for any misunderstandings to be rectified. We would hate for these absences to taint any relationship you may have with you or your child/children’s tutor.

These rules will NOT apply to any unforeseen circumstances i.e. hospital visits. There is also no charge on missing lessons due to bereavement. We know that certain situations can be extremely difficult to talk about and we do not need you to go into any more detail about any specific absence. A simple ‘I won’t be able to make it’ will be enough. We do not wish to violate anyone’s privacy.

This policy is not designed to penalise people for having lives outside of their tutoring. It is intended to prevent any no-shows having an effect on the efficiency of our valued tutors. If you have any upcoming holidays or other expected absences, telling your tutor as soon as possible is the best option. You do not need to communicate with the directors ourselves. We feel that the best thing for any tutor/client relationship is communication.

Our aim with this is to have a policy in place which protects your right as the consumer while also safeguarding our tutors’ valuable time.
