Why study German?
Our German Tutoring is available from the basic fundamentals up to SQA Higher level, conversational German, written work and everything in between. German is a common feature for schools when choosing their foreign language offerings and is vastly different to the other usual offerings.
This is because Italian and French are romantic languages and stem from Latin, while German is funnily enough Germanic. The differences between the two are numerous but there are also some key similarities and our German tutoring focuses on identifying these similarities to help bridge the gap and make the language less intimidating than it seems.
Our German Tutoring – what will we do?
From the very beginning, we will be teaching your child the basics of the language, the country and the culture of the German people. We always like to give a detailed context and background to the nation before diving deeper into the language. Everyday conversational phrases and the absolute basics will be covered shortly afterwards and lots of speaking will be necessary to adapt to the different sounds of German phonics.
Once we have worked on phonics and the basics of German, we will begin to construct sentences with simple verb and noun rules. We will slowly ramp up the difficulty by adding more information to these sentences with conjunctions and multiple verbs and nouns. Don’t panic, we will work at a pace that your child is comfortable with – we see no value in rushing languages.
When it comes to the SQA examinations, we are dedicated to thoroughly practicing the speaking until we go ‘blau’ in the face. Speaking exams can be very daunting and challenging so we will do everything in our power to boost the confidence of your child as they prepare for the tricky presentation and conversation.
