Eilidh Chambers

My name is Eilidh Chambers and I am David’s daughter. I am 21 years old and fully committed to pursuing my interest in a career in tutoring. In addition to offering my own tuition for primary and secondary school pupils, I am keen to support young people by offering to help with foreign languages as taught in high school.

Chambers Tutoring is a small family-run enterprise. If you read through the brief ‘How it Started’ page, you will already know about my dad and his journey into tutoring. If you don’t mind, I would like to use this time to share my own background.

My passion for foreign languages began in primary school with the basics of French. In high school, French was by far my favourite subject and I even found myself looking forward to doing homework for that class. I went on to pass National 5 French a year early with an almost perfect score and repeated this strong performance in Higher French. At the same time, I found myself studying Italian and this led me to change my classes and leave Computing Science for this second foreign language.

I achieved National 5 and Higher Italian with strong A grades while also passing Advanced Higher French. It was in my second last year of high school that I would complete the linguistic trio on offer at my school and begin learning German. I finished my last year of high school with an A in Higher German and passing the Interdisciplinary Project for the Baccalaureate.

While studying for my own language qualifications, I spent two lessons every week teaching a class of junior secondary school pupils. One of these was a first year French class and the other was a second year German class. This is something I really enjoyed doing and it felt as though I was making a real difference. I also helped the Higher and National 5 French pupils with their speaking and writing by leading small study groups in class as my teacher instructed.

I started attending the University of St Andrews in September 2018, a hugely important month in my life for multiple reasons. There, I studied French and Modern History along with Arabic as a third subject and completed the first year. Personally, university life was not for me so I left after this having experienced being away from home and finding myself while there.

In addition to tutoring, I also run the website and social media accounts for Chambers Tutoring. This means that this entire website is my responsibility. Please feel free to leave feedback on how you are finding this site, I would love to know all of your opinions on it.

I am also an aspiring author and work on my writing in my spare time and also have a keen interest in fashion and makeup in particular. I spend some of my free time before writing working on my makeup techniques!
